Multi-Tasking Revisited

This morning on Good Morning America, they did a story on multi-tasking in the workplace. Apparently, while many of us may be gifted multi-taskers, there is a recent study that shows that multi-tasking is actually less productive. In this study, they found that doing two things at one time actually takes 50% longer than stopping to do each thing, one at a time. Very interesting!

As I've been working around the house this morning, I began to think about my workplace, and how often I multi-task. We all know that having kids seems to suck up your time, but based on this new multi-tasking research, I'm beginning to see just why it seems to take twice, if not three times as long to get dinner together!

There is just one time of day when I don't have to multi-task,... NAPTIME!!!

Jodi...I heard about that too! But I'm not so sure. Don't you think that it depends on what tasks are involved in the multi-tasking? I mean, if I didn't eat my cereal while I put on my makeup I would never eat in the morning....it would take so much time!
