Are we having fun yet?

One of the highlights of my summers has to be time spent at our family cabin in Arrowhead. After four plus years of drought, (with the final summer leaving our dock high and dry -- literally) the past two years have been blessed with lots of rain and snow to fill the lake. Skiing has been preemo recently. Three weeks ago Martin, Nathan, and I had the best ski rides of our lives, one Monday morning. We spent a good three hours out in the boat,... our dear Kate even fell asleep in the boat, in the middle of one of Martin's ski rides! Poor baby!

She hasn't always been so comfortable on the boat, however. Last summer she was way too little to even go in the boat, so she'd spend time in someone's arms on the dock, or at the cabin. This summer, however, she's big enough, and active enough to make all of us a bit more apprehensive about her time on the dock, and in the boat. She just barely fits into a little skivest we have, but that vest has given us the chance to make Kate a part of our fun on the lake. I think for awhile, though, she equated it to being belted into her carseat. The attached picture is one of the first times she was in it. She really didn't think she could move! It gave us quite a good laugh to watch her sit stoically, moving only her eyes!

Now, she's an old hat at it, moving easily from our laps in the boat, to the seat beside us,... holding the flag and being our own personal cheerleader, yelling "Go, go, Uncle!" or "Go, go, Mommy!" or "Go, go Daddy!" I think it's safe to say that yes, now we are having fun!
